hard drive not support

i am beginner in Linux, i want to install Red Hat 9 to my pc, but i had problem to Hard Drive Device, my hard drive is SATA Maxtor Diamond Plus 9 120 Gb, linux ask for device drive, can any body help me!! i want install linux server.
 
Your SATA controller is Promise SATA controller.
So you can download the linux driver from that website.
Read Asus P4C800 manual and try to find what kind of Promise SATA Controller does Asus P4C800 use.

Yup, some Promise chips are'nt native supported in linux, ex, in RAID ATA, yun need to do some hacking in the system and kernel, it will work you need to do alot of things (hope i'm wrong to ease).
 
That website provided SATA linux driver for kernel 2.4.
Wanna to wait kernel 2.6 or get SATA linux driver from that website.
