Hi All,

Does anyone know why this would happen.
I have a IP406 in the field with a mixture of PSTN and ISDN2's. I have upgraded the system to 4.2(17).
Ramdomly(and this was happening before the upgrade)when a user finishes a call and hangs up instead of disconnecting a call it places the call on hold. The user is unaware of the situation and I only noticed it on the call status.
I have confirmed the user isn't responsible the system or handset seems to be doing it.

Any ideas, thanks

What type of phones? This is common with analog phone users who press the hookswitch with finger to hang up - or to make another call.

what Mike said for analog phones and
it puts them on hold or it just doesn't disconnect the caller?
There is a PCN out for phone sets that have a hookswitch that doesn't work on

If you can't be good, be good at it!

This is happening on analogue phones only, so the PCN is not relevant with this issue.
If like mforrence suggests its because they are using there finger to hang up and make another call - why would this happen?

maybe if they are hitting hangup too fast the auto hold is kicking in? like switching CA keys on a digital phone?

Never argue with an idiot. bystanders won't be able to tell the difference.

I have this problem with Avaya's 6200 series analog phones. The hookswitch is faulty and if the user just hangs up, the call will recall the phone as if it was put on hold. Change the phone out to another kind of phone to see if the problem clears.

Momentarily hanging up with your finger is the same as performing a hookflash - which puts the call on HOLD. System is working as designed. Some phone hookswitches will "bounce" when hanging up with handset - again, putting the call on hold. Some analog phones have a "flash" button and a "new call" button - essentially a long hookflash.

If you wanted a user to never be able to hookflash, you COULD set the extension parameters very tight - flash shorter than "window" is ignored and longer is request for new dialtone. Or teach them to hang up for two seconds before attempting a new call.

Thanks for your replies I will discuss with the user how they are using the handset.

Thanks
