I have a friend that does research in public records for deeds, titles, etc… Making copies of the documents is a regular part of the job. Although most of these places have copy machines, the copy fees are severely inflated, sometimes to the point of $2 a page. Although these costs get passed to the client, it can add up to some serious out-of-pocket expenses that may take months to collect.
I got to thinking about hand-held scanners, and I remember seeing some ages ago that could scan 4 or 5” widths or like was used by Charlie Sheen in Wall St. If I look online and in catalogs, I see plenty of hand-held scanners; however they are all advertised as bar-code scanners.
So my question is – can anyone recommend a hand-held scanner that can scan in full-page widths into internal memory or directly into a laptop? OCR is probably not a must-have, but may be nice.
TIA
