Hi,
A friend already gave me a solution but I thought I may get some helpful tips here. We upgraded our file server from NT4 to W2K. After the upgrade, I found on about half of the reconfigured desktops (10 of 20) that I had lost internet access (could still access the shared network drives and corporate Outlook). IPConfig showed that there was no DNS (it was set to find it automaticaly). So my friend suggested that I just enter the DNS from another computer manually (right click on my network places, etc.). This worked and the internet connection was restored.
The W2k upgrade involved changing the domain name and control shifted from us locally to our head office (VPN).
Does it matter that I entered the DNS manually? Does it mean there is a larger issue?
Thank-you,
Peter
