HACMP gurus.. where are you???

well, just need your help badly guys regarding HACMP. Is there any detailed documents or URL that i can use on configuring HACMP. I know how it works but need more info for i will be configuring one at 2 6h1.whew! i know this would be quite tough for a novice like me ...but i like the challege!
Hope to hear from you out there! THANKS!

Well have a look at some redbooks from IBM. You should have some infos on the install. If you really don't know how to do, you may use (i never used it) the xhacmpm application.
If you need any help, dont hesitate

ive tried reading some of the redbooks about hacmp but then i can't find any useful enough that would help me and teach me the exact procedure and where to start...even for hacmp for certification and others... is there any other book that you can recommend?

I dont know other documents than the official one ...
HACMP 431 or 44 HACMP for Aix installation Guide has a quick configuration guide.
If you don't have it, i can send it to you (its a pdf guide)
I used to be in the french ha group in IBM so i don't use any doc but i can help u if you need.

okay... can you just send me the rebooks that you are referring to or email me the yrl so i can download it myself, so it wont be too troublesome to you..ill be using HACMP 4.4.1 i think its an ES version... does it have a big difference on HACMP HAS?
Thanks a lot for offering hand in helping me on this.. I'm pretty sure ill be emailing you once in a while regarding this... hehehe... hope it would be okay with you...
anyway, ill be using 2x 6H1 in HACMP, with mirrored OS and connected to a SUN T3StorEdge.... whatcha think??? will i be having problems with this? hehhee.. so, far i can see all the T3s with about 8 arrays with 500Gb each... whew! tough! hehehe anyway,,, thanks a lot for your help!!!

Thanks alot!

Also, want to check, how can i configure a boot address ofmy ethernet, lets say i have already configure an ipsomethinglike 10.1.1.104 then how do i set my boot and standby|?

thanks alot!!!

Ok i can send the doc to you, i just need an addresse email
For your T3, how is it connected to the RS6K, is it standard like SCSI or SSA, or is it a particular SUN card with different drivers. If it is the case, you should ask officialy the question to IBM, because you need to be able to see standard hdisks on the system, to be able to act on them with ordinary lvm commands and to be able to break the connection from one system from the other.
For your addresses, the boot and service must be on the same subnet, but the stby must be in another subnet. For example, if your service address is 10.1.1.104, your boot should be like 10.1.1.103 for example and your stby should be like 10.1.2.100 for example (assuming your netmask is 255.255.255.0.

hope that helps

thank a lot... i got the ethernet cards configured i guess but then im having some troubles...
After configuring at one node all the adapters.. and then try to verify and sync it to the other node B, then this what happened:

..Cannot find port to remote host
WARNIG:Address ...,...,...,.. for nodeA_standby is not configured properly.
WARNING:Address ...,...,...,... for NodeB_stangby is not configured properly
WARNING: Node NodeA is not on its boot address.
ERROR: Stangby adapter nodeA_stangby is improperly configured on the node NodeA

Do you have any idea whats the reason of this?
Thanks a lot.. hope to hear from you at once!!

Also, T3 is conected via FC channel, so far, i could see the arrays on both nodes.

can you see an entry for godm in /etc/services, if yes is there an entry when you do netstat -an | grep 6177 ? if no you did not refresh -s inetd since install. (you should see godm running when you do lssrc -ls inetd)

hope that helps

thanks a lot! i manage to do that but i configure my ethernet on one node and im trying to sync the definition to other node... it says error something like can't find node B....
is it because i declaredmy hostname as service hostname yet my ip declaration was ip of boot address....
how to sync it?
thanks in advance

For the initial synchronisation, you should put both nodes active on boot address and stby address (if it is a mutual takeover config). Then configure on the first node all of the adapters (both boots, svces, stbys, and all the non ip adapters), and if all you rhosts are ok it should synchronize easily.

But i really think you shouldnt try to make it work without looking at the documentation. If you give me your email, i send it to you if you need it.

hope that helps

gileb,,
thanks a lot for your help... my email is bonsky@axti.com
anyway, i already configured my first node and ive got new error message when it comes to sync...
NOTE:HACMP/ES4.4.1 AIX 4.3.3 RML 9
cluster 1
nodea:10.1.1.16
nodea_boot 10.1.1.17
nodea_sb:10.1.100.10
nodeb:10.1.1.18
nodeb_boot:10.1.1.19
node_sb:10.1.100.11
my host name currently is holding nodea yet my ip is node_boot ip... sam as nodeb.
now everytime i sync, it says like
....veryfying cluster topology
...could not open socket connection to nodea, check root passwords, permission and /.rhosts
but ive check everything and its all there|???
where could this be???

THANKS ALOT!

If, on your nodea you do a "rsh 10.1.1.17 ls", and "rsh 10.1.1.19 ls" do you have an answer ?
If that doesn't work, sync cannot work...

don't forget you must have ALL ADDRESSES define in all .rhosts on all servers : this must be your .rhosts on ALL your nodes :

10.1.1.16 root
10.1.1.17 root
10.1.100.10 root
10.1.1.18 root
10.1.1.19 root
10.1.100.11 root

and chmod 600 /.rhosts

tell me if it helps

THANKS A LOT!!!!
I'lllet you know if i happend to be successful...hehe
