Guys need your help, lost access to web

well yesterday I was browsing the net and all of a sudden I get kicked off. So I call my ISP and they tell me that my PC is connected to there FTP and my problem is a computer issue. So i go into cmd and do ipconfig/renew and it gives me an error message: "An error occured while renewing interface local area connection: Unable to connect to your DHCP server. Request has timed out." Now I immediatley rebooted the whole windows and had the same problem. Anyone know what the problem is, how do I fix it? Please guys help me out

Try this: I've had the same thing happen to me in the past.

1) Shutdown your pc.
2) Unplug your DSL/Boradband modem.
3) Unplug your router, if you have one
4) Leave all componets off for approx 1-3 minutes.
5) Plug modem and router power cords back in.
6) Reboot your pc. At this point, your modem SHOULD pick
up a new IP address and you SHOULD be able to get back
onto the internet.

If the above doesn't work do this:
1) Open a command prompt.
2) type: ping 127.0.0.1, you SHOULD get a response back
from your NIC.
3) Perform #2 several times. You SHOULD NOT get any timeout
errors. If you do, I would suspect the NIC has gone bad.
4) If the ping works w/o any errors and you STILL can't get
onto the internet, call your ISP. Can they see your
computer? That is, Do they see your pc as being on the
network?
5) If they can't see your pc, I would suspect a bad NIC. Replace it and try again.

It would help if we knew if this was a dial-up, ADSL or cable connection.
