What does one have to do on the client side to allow a user access the printers defined to the server. We have a client running XP Home, what we would like to do is allow the client to be able to used the shared printers.

I enabled the guest account of the server and on the workstation, changed the workgroup to "MESLLC". This is how the other workstations were set up to connect to the server. However when I do this to our clients laptop, it appears to be not working.

Any help would be greatfull,
Mike

AFAIK, XP Home can't join Workgroups or Domains - you need XP Pro for this.

Are your printers networked? Something like HP JetDirect? If so you should be able to configure a network spooler port on the user's machine to bypass having to connect to the workgroup.

Thanks for the quick response.

Yes our printers are networked.

I guess I am confused. My current workstation runs XP home. I had to change the workgroup to MESLLC. Once I did this and setup up a computer and user on the server, I could see the printers on our network, using the add printer wizard.

I have been having a hell of a time trying to do the same with our laptop.

Any thoughts??
Mike
