When I'm online my XP Pro notebook cuts out with no warning, even the light that says its pulged into the mains goes out. Someone told me its over heating so I did it in a VERY cold room and it still did it. Is it XP or my computer.

What should I do, as you can imagin its a **WOOPS** pain in the backside!

Well, this sounds like a hardware problem, XP is not the problem her. Get it fixed.
BTW, a very cold room does not help overheating a laptop just like that. As you mentioned the mains light goes ut, I would start with checking that part first.
If you want to play with too hot or cool, power it up until it stops. Reboot and time before shutdown. Do this a few times to get an average.
Then let it cool of in that VERY cold room for a long time, or put it in the fridge for 30 minutes. Wait another 30 minutes after taking it out because there will be damp in it!
Then run the same tests and time if it holds out longer, if it does, it definitively is a overheating problem.
Have it serviced then.

Found the problem, It was a faulty monitor. Sent it back twice but finally the fools found what was wrong with it and changed the monitor....must have been the power lead or something....not to worry fixed it then sold it and got myself something better now.
