We are migrating from Groupwise to Exchange and have very little experience with Exchange. Currently our complete disk usage for Groupwise including e-mails, attachments, notes and address books comes to 14 GB. I understand that the standard version of Exchange is limited to 16 GB. Does this mean that we must use the enterprise edition? We only have 40 users but our attachments are frequently quite large.

Also, we are concerned with converting the data from Groupwise to Exchange, I have been quoted $6000 for this work. How difficult is this to do ourselves and what are the pitfalls? I do have the capability of doing trial runs in a isolated environment.

First of all, don't you think 16gb and 14gb is to close for comfort? Yeah. Play it safe.

I've never rolled from GW to Exchange 2k3, but I did do it to Exchange 2k. It wasn't that hard really.. They make these cool little plug-in's for Exchange and GW that make the process really easy. Have you looked at any of these tools yet?

I don't think I paid for the tools that I used when I did my migration, but that was like 3 years ago and i don't remember the name of it.. Just google for some tools and you'll find plenty.

here's a link to a tool to give you an idea of what they are and do:
Good luck!
