Groupwise connector E2k & 5.5

Following scenario:
We have one exch5.5 server and one E2k server.
I want to remove the 5.5 server.
Internet mail is sorted, but we have a groupwise connector to another office running. I need to migrate this connector somehow to E2k.
Assumed I would follow same steps as for the IMC to SMTP connector.
HOWEVER, do I need to create a share via the GWSN icon in control panel on the E2k server, or can I just leave this blank and tell the connector to use the same api path as the current 5.5 server?
