I am having difficulties with more information being pulled inot a report then I want. Prior to adding a particular field the report works great but as soon as I add a different field pointing to a different table then it pulls in more then I want it too. When I look at then links all looks fine and I really don't want to group based on this new field.

ella,

Perhaps there is a criteria needed on the new table? Please provide examples of what you were seeing before and after the change (and/or what you would like to see versus what you are seeing) on the report - hard to say what may be the cause based on the above.

Cheers!

Mike

Suppose you link records in table A to records in table B. If record A links to B1, B2, B3, B4 and B5, you get a detail line or 'row' for each. Fields from record A appear in each 'row', which is just what a programmer would want for some purposes.

In your case, it may be that the extra table was ignored when it was not used, but you now have the multiples shown.

The standard answer is to group on something, maybe an account number. Suppress the detail lines, show the detail in a group header or footer.

If I've guessed wrong and you have some other problem, please explain what.
