The simplest way is to create a new variable in the report as =YEAR(<datefield>)
This variable can then be used inn thereport (using slice & dice) to insert the field. Remove the original date field from the report and the measures will automatically be accumulated.
The new variable can be treated almost exactly like a field retrieved from the database .
