Hi,
I have a network of 3 servers and a bunch of computers. one server is an e-smith that runs my content filter. the next is an old nt4 server, with that is a win2k server. i don't have active directory installed. i would like to make a group system policy for both the windows 95/98 clients, and the win2k clients. is that possible??? (keep in mind i don't know anything about 2k) is there something like poledit??? or can i just use poledit from the nt4??? i need lots of details. i would really apprecieate the help.

thanx

Is this an NT domain? If so, do this:

You will need to create two policies. 1 for the 9x clients and 1 for the NT/2K clients.

Use Poledit to create both. What I would do is create 1 policy and save it as NTConfig.pol - these will be applied to the NT/2K Machines. Next, save the policy again, only this time save it a Config.pol - these are to be applied to the 9x machines. Both are then identical. Save both to the Netlogon folder on the NT server. Since the 2K machine is on the NT domain, it will apply the NT policies. If it weren't, the 2K machine would need to use GPO's, whether domain or local.

If it isn't an NT domain, you'll need to apply local policies - using poleedit - on the 9x/NT machines and register the polices. The 2K machine will need to have the local GPo applied.
