i know local policy takes precedent over domain policies. my question is do undefined local policies overwrite defined domain policies. for example, i define logout time on the domain level, but not on the local level. will the computer still logoff following domain policy rules? thanks

It is my understanding that if a policy is "Not Configured" (which is the default) then any policy that is applied before it will make the settings.

So if something is enabled or disabled at the domain level and then not configured at the local level the domain policy will be applied.

Meaning that not configured is simply that and does not change the value of any prior policies.

does that make sense - I hope it does.

That's the other way around. Local policy gets applied first, but a domain policy will override it.
