Group Policy

So here's the 911:
I want to redirect everyone's My Document folders from their local drive to a network server (the "home" directory). I've selected the group/OU I wanted to do this for, created the new object, set the UNC path (\\server\share name\%username%) to the share in User Configuration->Windows Settings->Folder Redirection->My Document->Properties and the setting to Basic (everyone to same share), and checked to have the folders moved to the network share. However, when I look at my My Documents folder I still have the local path in target. Shouldn't this be accomplished when I log in? Or even Restart? I get no action on this group policy. Also, are the home directories automatically created in the share or do I have to manually make a folder for everyone (80 of them)? Any help would be appreciated! I would like to know what I'm missing. Thanks!

After you create - modify a group policy you need to go into the properties of the policy, choose security and add the group you want the policy to apply to. Check the apply policy, and that should do it.

Which clients are you using? Group policy only works with Win2K Pro and WinXP Pro clients. It doesn't work at all with Win9x and WinNT clients.

Group Policies apply to Win2k in XP as a whole. Just in case you choose to use the server as a client. Dan

The server is not a client and we only have win2k professional users. thanks for your help guys!

How long did you wait before testing it? Sometimes it takes like 15 minutes for replication to take effect.

Did you set the permissions on the shares? Make sure that the clients can connect to them. Try manually mapping one of those shares using the same UNC path as you are trying in the group policy.
