Hello,

We are using SBS2003. We have a Group Policy that redirects My Documents to \\Server\Public.

It works OK for the desktop users. We have 2 laptop users that work in the office. They are part of the same OU, yet their laptops don't redirect My Documents. It seems isolated to the laptop users.(Sometimes, these 2 users login to desktops. I notice that the desktops redirect OK. Is it having a problem with profiles?).

Thanks for your help.

Why would you want the laptops to redirect? That would defeat the purpose of having the laptop. With the files on the server the users will no longer be mobile.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Depends on how you use your laptop. I use sync'ing of folders to keep access when I travel, but I like the security of having these files on a server, as a back up, or for others to be able to use.

The SBS component should enable offline files (automatically) so that a local copy of the My Documents copy is available on the laptops. This is assuming, of course, that you used the wizard to configure the redirection, and not manually wrote a GPO.

Thanks for the assistance.

It is for backup reasons. We have a copy on the server and a local copy in My Documents. It should be synchronizing with the local copy. For some reason, the laptop users can't get to My Documents offline. It is not synchronizing a local copy. (Yet, the desktops synchronize a local copy. The Sales team uses both a desktop and a laptop in their office.). Most of the time, the sales team works in the office, but there are a few occassions when they travel.

I didn't use a wizard. I made my own sbs g.policy named redirection. Could this be part of the problem?

Thanks.

The clients should have something in the event logs post logon. Regarding group policies and redirection. Please post the event entries here.

Cheers,

Steve.
