I'm attempting to create a new distribution list for exchange that would include everyone. However, when I go to create the ditribution group in AD on the exchange server, it tells me that the group already exists. I've combed through all of active directory - there is no everyone distribution list. Can anyone explain this phenomenon to me? Thanks.

Are you trying to call it "Everyone"? There is already a built-in security identifier called Everyone. For instance, create a new share and check the default permissions; it should list Everyone with Read access. Just change your group name to AllUsers, AllEmployees, or something similar.
