Group by text in crystal reports

Hi,

I have to generate a report which shud have its "group by" header record populated from a text field. I am new to cystal reports. It looks like crystal reports does not accept group by a text field.

Is there a solution for this.

Are you saying you want to group on a text field from the database (which is possible) or group on a crystal text field you have inserted onto the report (which i snot possible)

if it is the latter, supply more detail of what it is you are trying to achieve and we'll more than likely point you in the right direction on how to accomplish it.

My data in the database is like this.

Textid text field1 field2

1 text1 a b
(2lines)

1 text1 c d

1 text1 e f

2 text2 g h

2 text2 i j

2 text2 l k

The report I need is

first page -

header - text1
details - a b
c d
e f

second page

header - text2

details - g h
i j
k l


Hope I have made the requirement clear. Is this possible?

Create a group on TextId then go to the options tab and select the check box Customize group name field and choose form an existing field and change this to your text field .

Thsi will group on teh textid but display the text field as the description.
