Graphs: 'Color by Series' VS 'Color by Groups'

I have some bar graphs in CR 8.5 and I have them set to 'Color by Series' (they also do NOT have a auto generated legend). When I close the file and open it again the bar graphs are all set to 'Color by Groups'. Has anybody else had this problem, and is there a known rememdy? Thanks for all your help!

I apologize in advance for double posting, but I have been doing some research and still have not found a remedy to this problem... My pie graphs all work fine, but the bar charts are giving me the problems. Does anybody have any idea why this might happen?
