Hi,

Probably not the best place to put this one, but It is for a win2k system ;) Just a general question really, just want some advice on a new graphics card for my home system. I have recently upgraded from an ancient spec, now I am happy with it, but I choose not to upgrade my video card at the time (funds related at the time) now I am guessing this is the weakest link in my system, I currently have a 32MB card, nothing fancy, does the job I guess, but I want to upgrade, not go overboard as I am not one to play all the latest games and need the performance, but perhaps a 128MB card? I have found some games to be slow, although my new spec is well within the recommended and also the preferable spec list's on the box would me having the crappy 32MB card make the game slow? It looks ok graphics wise but it just aint quick and infact is pretty damn slow....I have in the past gone with ATI cards, found them good...what do you people suggest, as I said before I don't want to go overboard and don't want to shell out the earth just for the card. Also, recommendations on places to buy from online?

Thanks in advance :D

Yes, not having an "up to snuff" video card can, and will, cause slowness to games. This behavoiur will get worse with the more graphically intense games that are available today.

As to slowness...do you get it in any other location beyond the games? Or is this just an issue with specific games?

Buying video cards...two sites I've used in the past

But I'd also recommend searching the web for some deals as you can usually find a few high end pieces of equipment for next to nothing.

Thanks for the info mate, yes, the PC is fine in every other area, no slowness or anything like that, purely just the games. I have been looking on dabs.com, I have been told to go for an AGP card and not a PCI as they are not as good....

Well, see what you think of this.... as other people have said, it should easily do what I want it to do :D
