I've created a GPO for locking down various workstation items. I created a Test OU I've added two computers and one user to the OU and the policy itself. One PC is Win2K and One is WinXP Pro (both fully updated)the network is Win2003 forest. The policy does not seem to want to apply to either workstation. Any help is appreciated and I can give further details if needed.

Thanks,

Aaron

Troubleshooting these issues can be a bit difficult. You have to make sure the users and computers have access to read the GPO's. You have to makes sure you give the computers time enough to download them. You also need to insurethere is no other policies that might conflict.

All that said.. Try running 'gpresult' on the client desktops. This will show you info about what GPO's are applied and what errors migh be occuring. Also check the event log on the clients and servers for any potential issues.

What are the GPO's that you've setup?
Are they user config or computer config?
Have you run gpupdate /force on machines in question? then reboot/logoff as appropriate.
Have you linked the GP to the OU?
Sorry for the basic questions but it seems as if this is one of the first times you've setup a GPO.

Elmurado,

Indeed it's only my second or third attempt at creating a new GPO. It's a test GPO for locking down a workstation as much as possible. It's User Config the settings I have chosen because in some instances one user on a box will need more rights than the next. The GP is linked and Enforced. I have it working mostly now the user one in the wrong OU (duh). However even though many of the settings I chose in User Config are compatible with Win2k the Win2k box is taking the GP like the XP box is.

Thanks,

Aaron

THanks for the responses it looks like the 2K box is using the policy now too. I think it all stemmed form the test user I setup hadn't been in the OU the policy was applied to and I thought it was. So the problem was a lot more basic than I realized at first. Thanks you all for responding.
