Ok, Ok, I got an annoying one here. I was testing a software installation pack with group policy. I found out that it was not ready for deployment, so I removed it from the policy. I then heard an employee complaining to me of 'this widow thing' that was on his screen. I went to the desktop and checked it out. Though there was a specific announcement to NOT log off, log on, or reboot...he did it anyway. Ok, thats an issue I have to get by, being an admin, it happens quite often. The problem is that, when he logged off/on, his desktop grabbed the domain software installation policy, and it started to install the pilot program I had configured and was testing. Before the installation was finished, I was in the test room deciding to remove the app from policy and to work on it some more. So while his desktop was installing, I removed the msi pack and refreshed the domain policy. Now my problem...the desktop has the group policy software installation windows and they loop, the progress bar finishes for the window that states 'gathering information', then the 'installing' progress bar starts and finishes, then the 'gathering information' bar starts and finishes, then the 'installing' progress.....ok you get the picture. It finally stops after three passes. I have rebooted his machine and there is no stop to this. The package is a partial installation of MS Office for a new department, he already has a full local install of office. So, everytime he opens an office prog, he also gets the same "Installation" fiasco. The programs work fine, as they are good installations, but when they are accessed they trigger an install process, one that I need to find out how to get rid of.....If you have read this far, thank you, I hope you can help me to figure this issue out.

Go to add and remove programs and remove the package if its there. This is a good start...

I have tried that, it is an office install (as I stated earlier) and it shows up in add/remove programs, but when I attempt to uninstall it I get an error message the states 'the temp folder is full or you do not have sufficient priveledges to access this folder....' I have checked all the local temp folders (to my knowledge) and have found no security issues. I think that, when the install was created, and then stopped abruptly, the temp folder was either lost or corrupted, or the path was not written to the registry.

Questions:
It seems that was assigned. To whom?
How did you delete the package?
You have two choices when you delete it!
One of them will force uninstall at the clients. The other one will let it installed on the systems where it was installed.
If the installation was not finished on that particulary system I recomand you to activate the package again (do it when the other systems are "sleeping") let the Installer to finish it's job. Then do the remove, as it is in the book.

Thank you for the input. I wish I had time to read the books. I am the lone IT personell in an organization that is growing like wild fire. I currently hold the title of Systems Admin, Network Admin, SQL DBA, blah, blah, blah. Being the sole employee isn't a joy of mine. I have no one to confer with when my mind is running rampent with thoughts of stored procedures, logon scripts, confrenced video, and incompatible users....thats why I took on the tek-tips family. All are almost always of help. Thank you again.
