I have a form thats based off a query with two linked tables. when the form opens i have it go to a new record.

after they enter the info in the form I then want it to go to a new record. I created a button with the simple

docmd.GotToRecord, , acNext
i also tryed acNew and both will not work. since Im already at the end of the record set it will not allow me to goto a new record..Is there away around this???

Thanks

Dear Dvannoy:

I'm sure you've already thought of this...but just in case, in the property sheet for the form have you put "Yes" in the Allow Additions row under Data?

Yes that option is checked...I also checked the data entry option as well. there has got to be away around this..

i've tryed both acnext and acnew and both donot work..

when the form opens i have it goto a new record then. but will not goto a new record after the data has been entered.

I learn more about Access by looking into these things than I would by struggling through the books...so my suggestions are not from any "expert", just a "beginner"...

Here's a statement from Access help that I found very interesting, and I didn't know before about "OpenForm" overriding form property settings:

"Note: When the Data Mode argument of the OpenForm action is set, Microsoft Access will override a number of form property settings. If the Data Mode argument of the OpenForm action is set to Edit, Microsoft Access will open the form with the following property settings:

AllowEdits — Yes
AllowDeletions — Yes
AllowAdditions — Yes
DataEntry — No

To prevent the OpenForm action from overriding any of these existing property settings, omit the Data Mode argument setting so that Microsoft Access will use the property settings defined by the form."
