Most people know about the Deathstar. Its supposed to be a Deckstar but its reputation gave it the name Deathstar.
And, if i recall correctly, Fujitsu made the drive for IBM anyway. I may not have the facts exactly correct. I also believe there are some bad 40 gig Deckstars as well. The problem is so bad that a lot of people just stay away from all Deckstars but i think the bad ones are only 30 and 40 gigs, not 100% sure on that though.
Either way, you can bet the people who sold you the drive, by this point in time, would have known about the Deathstar, almost everyone does.
Sorry you found out the hard way.
On the other hand, i have a 20 gig Fujitsu that is still working fine.
Also, not 100% sure but i think IBM bought out Fujitsu hard drives and Fijitsu was making those hard drives for IBM at the time anyway.
