Goldmine Business Contact Manager versus Access 2000

There is no comparison here, they are not even competitors.
Access allows you to build your own datasbases, access existing databases, write reports, build data entry forms, etc.
Goldmine is a customer relationship management (CRM) package. You cannot build new databases with it, you can only populate the database that comes with Goldmine. There are a number of reports predefined in Goldmine on the Goldmine database, while in Access there are zero predefined reports.
Your question really does not make much sense, you should be weighing Goldmine versus its competitors such as ACT and Adapt. Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

I wholeheartedly agree with dgillz... coparing teh two is a futile effort.
That said, I do know someone who has created a pseudo-crm solution in Access, using access, word, and Excel as component parts. It's very simple in terms of CRM, very complex in terms of access, and a pain in the a$$ to service and report from.
So, I suppose it is possible, but I wouldn't want to use it. And I sure as hell wouldn't want to administer it in a distributed or networked format. Michael Phipps
