I want to filter name out of the Global address list without deleting the users mailbox. I thought if disabled the account I could use and advanced filter to remove disabled accounts. I can find that field. I thougt I could add them to a group and filter on that and that didn't work. This is my first time with LDAP queries in Exchange 2k. I read the help, but I don't know if I am doing something wrong.

I need to keep the mailboxes because everyone is afraid something important might be in them and I don't do a brick level backup of the exchange database.

I don't have an Exchange box in front of me, but I'm pretty sure off of memory you go into AD Users and Computers and enable the Advanced View. Then open up the user account you don't want in the GAL, and select the Exchange Advanced tab. There is a check box that says something like "Hide address in the address book"

Yup that works.

You can also Exmerge the mailbox to pst and then delete it. Dan
