Hi,
I am using Symantec Ghost 7.5 with three Dells, each running Windows 2k. Each Dell is a P3 with at least 128 Megs of RAM and they have 3com network cards. Each is part of the domain already.
The problem I am having involves the creation of the image itself, which I believe is leading to problems when I try to use that image. Here's what I've done:
1) Installed the console onto the Admin machine.
2) Installed the client onto the Model machine.
3) On the Admin machine I started up the Ghost Console. I set up a new task that pointed to the Model machine (including Sysprep). I started the Task and it waited for a response from the Model machine.
4) The Model machine popped up a small window that indicated it was going to let itself be used for an image. It stated that a reboot *may* be necessary. However, after the 10 second countdown, nothing happens. The Model machine just sits there as the Admin machine waits.
5) I reboot the Model machine and it then boots into the "PC Dos" mode. Eventually it loads the Ghost DOS based program screen and begins the creation of the image.
This is the part where things go wrong:
1) The Model machine becomes unusable. Upon reboot, it automatically kicks into the PC DOS mode (without any boot disk in the drive). Then it goes into a mode where it contacts the Admin machine, which responds and the two go back and forth indefinitely.
2) If I use the image on a test PC, it seems to ghost correctly, but upon reboot it can't find an OS and keeps asking for a boot disk in the A drive.
So there you have it folks. Any help would be most appreciated!
PS - I have already followed the steps in the "Preparing a
workstation for control by the Ghost Console" document.
