I have for the last couple of days being trying to get RIS / Ghost to work, and what a pain so far.

We have W2k3 Server and AD, and Ghost Version 8.

The closest I have got is using the 3com disk that comes with Ghost, but when I create the client, it starts ghost ok on the client, but then can't do anything - i.e. get my image onto the PC, as all I see is "A" drive and the CD drive.

Is there a way of mapping a drive using RIS so I can get to my image ? If not, do I have to use the ghost cast server ? and if so how ?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks.

You need a DOS booting floppy (or other bootable media) that has the MS network and client installed. Novell's CoolTools area has a nice DOS boot disk configuration and creation utility available, though it has been a long while since I used it.

I think it is faster to buy a DVD burner for creating and restoring the images. We've not got any workstations that won't fit on a DVD.
