i am being given a 4 CD set of a Ghost image for a system and i want to copy all 4 cds to 1 bootable USB flash drive.

i remember some time back copying a multi-disc (floppies)set to a cd and it worked by copying each disc to its own directory on the single cd.

my question is, when it asks for the next disc will it pick it up from the USB without any input from me other than to hit the OK button?

There shouldn't be a problem... we've been using the same system for years.

The first file (which usually has a .GHO extension) will call for the next file in the spanned set which, in turn will call for the next spanned file, etc. The spanned files will have a .GHS extension.

Just copy the Ghost executable, the .GHO file and all the .GHS spanned files onto the USB drive. The Ghost executable can go anywhere but the .GHO and .GHS files should all be in the same folder so you're not prompted to browse for the next span file.

Hope this helps...

I think you have to refer to the documentation of Ghosting software used to create the images, on how to join the images.

thanks for the replies. i am pretty sure it will work, just wanted another "newer" opinion as mine goes back a ways!

Eyec, you should run a "verify image" operation on the Ghost files on the USB flash drive. If that works, then a restore operation ought also to work (but would be worth testing too, of course).

thanks, will make sure to run the verify.
