ghost emergency bootable cd intead of floppy 2

I have a laptop which has no floppy drive but has a CD drive. I have partitioned the hard drive so I have a system drive (C-drive) and a D-drive. I have made a ghost image of the system drive and stored it on the D drive. I would like to create an emergency bootable CD for when I have an emergency situation. I know I can get a USB floppy drive, but if I can avoid this, I would be happier.

Has anyone created an emergency bootable CD and more importantly, is it possible?

Yeah it can be done,
Im not sure about the integrity of the file you have already created (can be checked with the advanced options) but in Ghost utilities, there should be an option for creating boot disks.
If your laptop has not got cd/dvd writing capabilites, you could create it onto another pc on your network (then burn) or onto an external usb hard drive then burn it on cd when you get a chance.
Note: if you ever need to use it (hopefully not) you might have to change the boot sequence in the bios so as it looks to the cd/dvd drive first before the hard drive.

Generally, create image, backup. Most imaging utilities provide a recovery disk, from which you can restore the system image.
USB drives can be troublesome due to driver support, or rather lack thereof in most low-level recovery environments.
If you are using Ghost 9, the main installation disk boots you into the Recovery Environment, or are you using another imaging app?

Norton Ghost 9.0 and Acronis True Image both have inbuilt utilities to create a boot CD.

Please make certain you as well make regular plans to copy the image to CDs. Right now if your hard disk failed, you would lose everything. And I can tell you from personal experience that a laptop is prone to theft.

I have Ghost 9.0, yet cannot find this utility to create a boot disk which you speak of. It demands you use the installation cd to boot into the Recovery Enviroment. I have wanted to make a separate boot cd for a while now so please, tell me how.

When restoring a computer in the recovery environment you must use the Norton Ghost CD or Symantec Recovery Disk (available with Norton SystemWorks Premier) to first boot into the recovery environment.

For Ghost 9.0 I think this is not likely the right link.
Just boot from the Norton/Symantec CD itself.

Correct Bill This does not work with Ghost 9.0 I don't like using the original CD so if anyone finds a way around this please let me know.

It as part of its install will write a bootable CD.
Just a great piece of software.
