Getting this error when upgraded OS to Windows 2003

We started getting this error when we upgraded the server to windows 2003 server and SQL 8.00.760 SP3. K is a network drive but it seems like the job scheduler cannot see the K drive. It has access to the drive and the drive is mapped. I cant seem to figure out what is wrong
Can anyone lead me in the right direction please.

BackupDiskFile::OpenMedia: Backup device 'K:\Project_Full.BAK' failed to open. Operating system error = 3(The system cannot find the path specified.).

You need to use the whole (UNC) path to the mapped drive. With just K:\, it thinks that drive is on the server.

Also, make sure that the login that SQLServerAgent service uses has access to the network drive. That's the login SQL Server will use when doing a backup.

Thanks I will try the UNC. It is wierd that this process worked before we upgraded to windows 2003 Server. I will let you know if this works. I had aleady checked the SQLSERVERAgent for access.

Good luck with backing up to a non-local drive. It proved very problematic with me, especially if the database was big. I started backing up locally and then copying the .bak file across.

If you are talking about the IFW backup you will run into trouble if you are trying to backup to a different drive.

You may see the drive mapped when you log in, but the SQL Account probably doesn't have that drive mapped on it's account.

You should never configure SQL to access mapped drives. Drive mappings fail all the time. It's easier in the long run to use a network UNC path.
