I had to reinstall Windows ME recently. How do I get rid of the box asking for my password? I an the only person using my home computer and do not need a password. Thanks for any help!

As the single user go to Control panel, then to Users and if a user wizard pops up you are good there [close that].

Go to Passwords, and choose that Users do not need to enter password. Enter OK ... shut down all the way off ... watch carefully to see if you are again prompted for PW and read the instructions there.

Not sure if this would work for ME, but it does in 98. In your Network Properties, change the Client for Microsoft Networks to Windows Family Logon.. Matt Wray

Enter a username and leave the password blank. Hit enter. I am assuming this will work with ME as it did in previous 9X versions. Fish
