Getting Ready to move, Packing Tips?

The worst thing that can happen is a hdd crash.<br>
So maybe take it out of the computer, and ship it seperatly in a special box, (maybe put the hdd in a antistatic bag too...)<br>
Moving everything else should be no problem<br>

Rams wont be a prob?<br>
also last time i moved the Pent/100 CPU/MB died(mainly cuz it was in a cardboard box, and its was just the MB and CPU hehe, but i have a case for this K6-2/450(which is only 45$ anyways), my main concern is the Rams, just taking them out could be a risk, so would they be find inside the PC(being sure to make sure i set the motherboard side down when i put it in the back of the car. <p>Karl<br><a href=mailto:kb244@kb244.8m.com>kb244@kb244.8m.com</a><br><a href=

When my work moved all their computers they had a special metal mesh cabinet they put the PC's and monitors in . A compartment for each piece of hardware in the one cabinet that was on wheels ..

Of course you remembered to make backups of all your data.&nbsp;&nbsp;You also purged all unnecessary files from the system and made startup disks for each computer.&nbsp;&nbsp;If you kept your original boxes then you should be able to pack up the computers yourself.&nbsp;&nbsp;Let the movers move them once you have them packed.&nbsp;&nbsp;After all, that is the way venders receive their systems.&nbsp;&nbsp;We take them out of their boxes and then reconfigure them, then burn them in.&nbsp;&nbsp;

I take my PC(s) up to the cottage usually once or twice during the summer.&nbsp;&nbsp;I just throw the monitor on the floor of the van making sure that the glass is covered with a blanket, toss in the CPU box, make sure that both items don't fall over, and head on up the highway!&nbsp;&nbsp;The clips will hold the ram SIMMs in real tight, can't see them ever getting loose.&nbsp;&nbsp;Usually when you try to remove the ram from the motherboard it is a bit of a fight anyway!&nbsp;&nbsp;I think the worst thing would be worrying about the monitor getting scratched or the yoke shifting and affecting the position of the picture on the tube.&nbsp;&nbsp;But then, you got to think, how was the monitor shipped from the manufacturer to where you bought it?&nbsp;&nbsp;Goodness knows how many times it was handled, shoved, bounced, etc.&nbsp;&nbsp;Couldn't do any better than on the floor of your van or backseat of your car.&nbsp;&nbsp;Cardboard box full of styrofoam peanuts would probably work great if you have to put them in a moving truck.<br>Good luck, have a great move! <p>Ian Cowie<br><a href=mailto:ianco@email.com>ianco@email.com</a><br><a href= > </a><br>"If you see something THIS big, with eight legs, coming your way, let me know. Well it appears after I told my boss that I was moving, he wasnt too happy, later that afternoon, he said if I stayed, he'd give me a raise to 30K salary (currently doing 12/hr), a paid for appartment, with the copany budget paying for the gas and electricity.
