This might be the wrong forum, but I really need help. I have created a survey in acrobat, and I want the data from the forms to be appended to a csv or xls file on the server. How would I set that up? If you know how, but not using acrobat, then please tell me anyway. I am just playing with acrobat right now anyway, and I have not decided to use it exclusively for data collection.

It is my understanding that you cannot get data easily out of Acrobat files into CSV or Excel because Acrobat is for display and if you cut and paste even, you get some funny results.

However I beleve that if you have the Full Acrobat Application there is facilities to do this.

I have resorted to using scan and OCR before now!

Perhaps contacting Adobe reference the full package may be the best action.

Saw in the computer mags that some OCR programmes do this now and I think Omni Page Pro can read in PDF format and hold the formatting

There is a few ways to do it. Some programs can do it for you try looking at
Where you should be able to find something to help.

The other way to do it is to create a Ghost printer (i have never really understood it myself) but its something to do with creating a Fake printer and effectively capturing the Print job as a certain type of file.

Should be able to find more at that link tho.
