get a dialtone once you get to the IPO 1

I was wondering if its posible to get a dialtone from outside once you connect to the IPO. Lets say im in restricted place where I can only make local calls. Is there a way to call my IPO and get a dialtone to dial any number I want.

Yes, its called a DISA line. If you got v-mail pro. it can be set up with with your auto attendant greeting using a selector code going to another menu allowing you to enter a password then you get a dial tone (using a wave file)you dial 9 and the number you want to call.
This should give you an ideal how to do this. I would get authorization to do this because of Long distance calls can be made using this DISA.

Is the only way to do this is through v-mail pro?
Can I do it in the IPO manger instead?
If the only way is to do it through the V-mail Pro, can you give me a lil bit more details, I tried following your instructinos but couldnt do it.

I'd like to help you but, I hesitate because people are rarely authorized to access DISA (Direct Inward System Access) in a restricted area because they are not allowed to make L.D. calls.

I have looked and tried following the other threads but they dont specify exactly how to do it on the vm pro.
According to the other threads I can set up a menu like when I call the main number and press 6 I will get asked for a code then I get a dial tone, but I only get as far as to the menu option. I dial 6 and then I get asked the code I enter it and nothing happens. Is there a specific code I have to enter on the transfer menu in the destination field.

Sorry, I was on vacation, just got back. Dial tone is a wave file that you can insert in the menu. You should be able to dial 9 then get dial tone from the menu after you dial a 6 and get dead air. Then you can dial an outside number and call out.

To get you started you can create a VMP module and add a Menu with DTMF sequence of 91?????????? then connect it to a transfer to $KEY.

I would typically put a check digit action before that to keep the random dialer out of the system and help reduce the potential for toll fraud.
