We have just recently installed our Citrix Farm on Windows 2003 Server. Everything rockets along nicely, however because of some inherent annoying application issues, its affecting the users end perception of the new system as a whole....
If ANYONE can assist with the HUGE list of questions / problems below I would be FOREVER in your debt.
(naturally im the project manager for this and if it doesnt work out its my butt!)
Apologies again for the HUGE LIST, hopefully someone has seen ONE of these before??
1. Application Enumeration. When a user logs in and the network speed is slow, all their icons do not appear on the desktop as appropriate. The user needs to log on and off 1 or 2 times for them to reappear.
2. Mouse Issues. Jittery Mice! Depends on the application but sometimes the mouse simply "jumps" around the place as if there is a synchronization issue with local terminal and the servers. Like moving quickly up to the FILE Menu, the mouse repeats the action at least 2 - 3 times before finally resting on the FILE option.
3. Printer Issues. Printers when printing to "print servers" are exceptionally slow. We have resolved this issue at present by simply setting up another wyse terminal as a printer server using LPD, and so far it's been working 100% better.
4. Word Toolbars. When customizing your toolbar in word, you cannot drag your mouse out of the Customize \ Commands window, like citrix is treating it as a separate seamless window which you CANNOT drag and drop out of.
5. GLX Advanced terminals slow in general (the ones with the CDROM's and Floppy drives)
6. Outlook / General Application jumpiness. When replying to a message the screen reverts to the main screen before you can type any words.
10. When unzipping applications and ticking the "display this file" after unzipping servers launch a remote desktop session to the server. Can you disable the opening of a Remote Desktop / ICA session?
11. Auto created Printers. Printers that are auto created automatically default to 600dpi, and Letter as the default paper size.
13. CHCTXAPPS002 (citrix apps server 2)Sometimes has the applications greyed out as if not responding and may either need a rebuild or reinstallation of Office.
14. Synchronization of Palm Device on GLX Terminal with USB either not possible or not working due to configuration issues.
15. Panasonic Printer UF-490 is not compatible with Windows 2003 Server due to the kernel mode drivers. Windows 2003 will not allow the printer driver installation even though specified to allow in Group policy (the ins of kernel mode drivers)
16. I can't print preview in Word, it flicks to a minimised version of the document.
18. There is the issue about the timesheet entry window in Handisoft (time and billing app) not coming up when you click on the Time and Billing icon. It looks like citrix treats an internal application window as a separate application, thus a compeltely separate window, ALT + TAB and returning to the main window DOESNT return the already opened internal window.
