Hello everyone. I was hoping I could feed by brain with everyone elses knowledge. I am a programmer by trade so I am a little knew to server set up. Here is my situation. I am attempting to get a small network set up at home so that I can network my 7 development machines together. Basically I want to be able to set up user accounts, provide a file server, print server, and a mail server. I realize that these are pretty standard operations but I was hoping I could learn some tricks from people that have set up a few servers. The server is going to be running Server 2003 Enterprise and I have a mix of XP and 2000 pro for my other machines. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. The site looks like it contains some very useful information. I have a couple of books but as I am sure you know they often tend to dance with tweaks instead of a straight foreward get it done approach. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the tweaks but I prefer to get a base set up going and then tweak later. Thanks again.

I use MS Virtual Machine downloadable for free from the ms website you can save at certain points of playing to save you having to start from scratch.

So you can run many servers and clients on very few boxes (all you need is lots of RAM).

Apart from Tek-tips this is one of my favourite websites with soooo many how to's its just awe inspiring!

Any specifics don't be affraid to ask in TT!

I use virtual machine for all sorts of development project but never thought to use it to play around with setting up a server. I have also see that site before but never bookmarked it. Thanks.
