Using a PNY GeForce Ti4200 64mb with Detonator drivers 30.82 running under WiME - occasionally when I load a game, the initial loading screen will appear, then the screen will go a murky grey colour and the computer freezes. I have to then reboot and run scandisk before I can use the computer.

The annoying thing is that this bug seems to be intermittent, and doesn't happen every time. I can still hear the sound but the screen is blank. It first happened when I ran Medal of Honor, so I upgraded the drivers and it now runs fine, but RTCW is now the culprit. My guess is it is a driver problem, but I thought both these games used the same engine.

Is there actually proprietary drivers for the card, or do I have to use only the Detonator ones?

Don't PNY's driver links lead you to Nvidia?
There's your answer.
Not always best are the latest drivers, tho. (not sure if that applies here, I'm talking generalities)
Look on some gamer's groups/o'c groups...and ask there if you don't find the answer...
Do you turn off vsync?

vsync is off at the moment - I enabled it incase it interfered but its made no difference. Guess I'll have to wait for the next driver release.
