Help! I am running the Gateway Service for Netware on my Windows NT 4.0 web server. When I try to configure the gateway and add a share to the Netware server I get the following error message:
*********************************
The specified user does not exist. To create a gateway share, both the currently logged on user and the gateway account must have access to the Netware resource. Also, the gateway account must be in the NTGATEWAY group on the Netware server and the current user must have the right to create a shore on the local computer.
*********************************
There are so many things that could be wrong according to the statement it is hard to pinpoint what might be causing my problem.
I am logged into the NT machine as myself with Administrator privileges while trying to create the share. I have created a local username called NTGATEWAY on the NT machine and a Netware username called NTGATEWAY, both of which have the same password. I have also created the NTGATEWAY group on the Netware server and made the NTGATEWAY account a member of it. I made sure the the NT-local NTGATEWAY account as well as my own has rights to create permanent shares. I know that the NTGATEWAY account has rights to the Netware resource because I can manually map a drive to the directory I want on the Netware server.

Can anyone suggest what I am missing? Or have you been through this yourself?

Thank you.

Sorry for the quick response above....my fiance needed something so I just copied that technet link.

I think your problem does have something to do with the accounts used to connect the Gateway services. What version of NetWare are you using? The version makes a big diffence...

Please look at this Technet Article. This explains a lot more...

Hope this helps... Joseph L. Poandl

Thank you so much. That did the trick.

It seems funny that I couldn't find that error message when I was searching Microsoft's site myself.

Thanks again.
