Just wondering if anybody has any experience with these. I've had on crash on an 3yr old Gateway Astro. I'm just wondering if these things are propiertary (?). I've looked online and found some guy selling a 10gig "Astro Hard Drive" for $100.

Was kind of hoping I could just slip in any old drive, the one I took out looks to be pretty much the same as everything else I have seen.

Thanks guys

You should be able to fit any standard 3.5 inch PC hard drive - only problem might be if you buy a very large one your bios might have problems recognising its full size (3 year old machine may have a 32GB limit). If this is case, there are ways round this.

On all the earlier gateways I've dealt with generics within bios limits fit in without problems. Ed Fair
