Have an out of warranty Gateway G6-350 that I am thinking has a power supply problem. Tried a different power cable, mouse, keyboard and monitor and moved to a known good outlet in another room. Has powered up once in the past day and someone inadvertently shut it down before I could run a diag. Otherwise, if I press the power button it shows no green power light. If I unplug power cord from back of PC and outlet, then plug back in to PC and back into outlet, the power light and HD light will both flash briefly for a second or two, and then nothing and no sound from the fan in power supply. If I press the power ON button, nothing I have not opened the box to check cables. Thanks for any ideas.

have you checked power good coming from the power supply try the power supply 1st but a few thing can cuase that bad memory, cpu, etc. So long and thanks for all the fish.

This is suspicion only. The flash of light indicates that the PS is capable of 5 volt. Acts like an ATX power supply and a probable bad wake up switch.
First is to verify that it is ATX. Power connector is dual row of connectors. If so, then there is 5 volt continuously on some portions of the MB. The power on switch on the front is a wakeup switch.
