Hello all, had a quick question for you. my Networking manager gets nervous when he looks at my stack of 3 G700's and only sees one network cable plugged into the network.

Can I plug in the other two G700's into the network as well for some redundancy? If so are they regular patch cords or cross over?

Thanks again in advance!

Yup, you can plug 1 crosscable per G700. But do not plug 2 crosscables on the G700 to the other switch. Spanning tree loops will occur. For some reason this is disabled on avaya switches.

So only one cable per G700 right? And it has to be crossover?

Any configuration on the MGP?

Just want to triple check.

you also need to setup a "redundancy pair", with the "set port redundancy" command, telnet into the P330 Stack Processor and use "set port redundancy help" for the sytax. You can also set it up by opening a web browser to the P330 stack processor, and there is an icon for settingup a redundant pair. You can use both ethernet ports on each G700, so long as you set up the redundant pair, which always disables one of the two interfaces.

I generally use "EXT1" on 2 separate G700's to setup the redundant LAN link. a typical command for me would be:

"set port redundancy 1/1 2/1 on LAN-Redundancy"

to enable or disable the link it is:

"set port redundancy enable"

mitch

P.S. This is all done in the P330 stack processor, NOT the MGP. You can also do a "show port" to see how the G700 ethernet ports are setup. I generally lock them to 100MB / Full Duplex as well, and make sure autonegotiation is disabled first.
