Is anyone here on v.11? I am looking at whether or not I want to upgrade from 10 (just did last year) but am having a hard time getting a real answer on what is really the latest and greatest on 11. (salepeople look at the upgrade so differently than from the technical side).. I have not even touched VOIP yet (but am hoping to get there soon.
Thoughts and opinions would be great - Thanks

If you're looking at upgrading from v10 to v11 you are considering the new Definity platform known "MultiVantage". You really have a tremendous amount of options available to you for migrating portions of your Defintiy to IP. For one, your call processing could be changing from TDM to IP which virtually triples your call processing capabilities. You don't have to commit to VoIP by making the change, but it certainly should be part of your consideration. Read up on Avaya's website.

OK -Going to a whole new platform. Am I being dealt with honestly if told that it would only be about 10k for this.
Nothing is ever inexpensive in AvayaWorld and the words "new platform" set off an alarm of 45k and up.
I program and manage- but the "budgets" portion is new to me. Just want to make sure before I allocate this, that their arent another 50k in hidden items required... Do you know any more???
Thanks, ~L

The flexibility of MultiVantage (which is what they are now calling Definity) is that you will have the option to change your platform to IP if you want. As v11 it should function as a TDM processing Definity. I doubt this will cost you very much. If you change your call processing platform to IP on MultiVantage your price tag will certainly rise. The point is that by upgrading your software you will be setting yourself up for any future hardware platform changes that you decide to make as your budget permits. I can't quote you prices because I don't sell the equipment, but any upgrade you perform should be based on your current and future needs. As far as any hidden costs, I think that those will be based on the needs of your company. The most significant changes from v10 to v11 are hardware based. To take full advantage of your upgraded software, the hidden costs will likely be in the hardware needed to utilize the features.

We have both R10 and R11, there are some software advantages, mainly in the types of sets that R11 will support. The new digital sets for example are not supported on R10. If you are staying in the TDM world and not planning on going IP I would wait. New releases come out every 6 months or so, and to change for the sake of change is a waste of good money. Look at your ROI. How much will it cost and what do you gain?
