I am trying to configure my g250 as a media-gateway that registers to my core 6.3 environment. My g250 is at a remote site with some incomming copper lines, I will plug into the built in analog trunk ports, then use IP phones for the end devices. I may add another analog card in the future but for now this is all I have.
I am able to console into the g250 and I have factory reset it ot my liking, the sh run command does not give much info as it is factory now. I need some hole in my knowledge filled in.
From what I understand I need to.
1. Configure the g250 to point back at my core over ip address - I know something to do with console "MSG 10.40.0.10" or something like that (10.40.0.10) is my core ip.
2. configure the core cm to see the g250 and route 4 digit dialing coming form the remote site g250 correctly in my dialplan at core.
3. configure the g250 to route all local calls out its own copper trunk/pots lines
I basically want to have this as an extension of my core with all the benefits of the core over what I assume is going to be a h.323 trunk back to the core using one of the ports on the g250, then have all my voicemail and main site configurations features. I do not ned surviveability
Other questions.
on the g250 can I plug one of the 8 ETH POE ports into a switch and have all IP phones use that connection? Rather than have only 8 ip phones one plugged into each poe lan port?
Is there a good document somewhere for what I am trying to do that anyone has used, I have read many but I cannot find one tailored to my needs of what I am trying to do.
Thank you kindly for your knowledge and help.
