Biting the bullet here...
I've hit a wall trying to make this work, and a more competent hand is likely going to chortle at my inability to sort this out. It may be that I'm totally barking up the wrong tree.
I've been handed a relatively small spreadsheet (A1:S265).
I'm really concerned with two columns within it, K and L.
I need to calculate an average for L WHEN the date in K falls within a given parameter (ex: >=7/1/2000 and <=6/30/2001).
DAVERAGE was my first inclination, but it's leaving me with incessant #VALUE! errors.
(For what it's worth, my current formula looks like: =DAVERAGE(K1:L265,L:L,AA1:AB2)...
Any input most appreciated.

Change your L:L to 2

from:
=DAVERAGE(K1:L265,L:L,AA1:AB2)
to:
=DAVERAGE(K1:L265,2,AA1:AB2)

Also for AA1:AB2 is it?:
Code:
Date        Date
>=7/1/2000  <=6/30/2001
"Date" should equal the same as your column header for column K

Sorry to lag, but just came around after smiting myself a good one after reading your reply.
