I have a search database that I developed that performs an FTSearch on other databases. The actual code does not seem to be the problem. In v4.6 the search takes about 20 seconds, in v5.05 the exact same search may take 6 minutes or more. It has been know to go for 20 minutes + if more than 1 word is searched. Does anyone know if Lotus made some internal design changes or admin changes that would affect the FTSearch function so drastically. The time varies from user to user. Some users take way more than 20 minutes for a 1 word search. Any thoughts appreciated.

I have found the culprit as it relates to our issues. There is a line in the Notes.ini file labeled "NSF_HOOKS=NLNVP". This is referencing an Anti-Virus hook. This hook is virus checking all the documents AND attachments during the search process....yuk!

The hook is placed in the Notes.ini by during the imaging process by admin, when notes is loaded up.

The cure to this issue is to 1) just take out the line alltogether from the notes.ini file (this is not really necessary though); 2) Download the most recent version from Symantec.

Here is the web address to download most recent version:
Here is the web address that explains the hook that is placed in Notes:

Download this and things will be lovely. From 10-20 minutes for search to about 20 seconds.
