Hi to all,

I just noticed that when I use IE to access FTP sites under W2k OS it works...

But,

When I use NT4.0 using IE to access FTP sites...

I can access them but cannot download or upload to our ftp server using the same username and password used in W2K OS.

Strange....

any tricks to overcome these?

thanks

Any more clues? (I can happily upload/download using ftp from NT server/workstation/XP pro/2k pro - all on same machine). So, spec of machine. any other issues? SP6a?

wolluf...

thanks for your reply...

clues... hmmmmm... I just can't do an ftp transaction from any of our 14 NT4.0 units... But all 10 W2k pro os systems works. These are all the same Dell units, same configs, even tried same user but no can do...

I can do cute ftp or any other ftp programs...

But what i want to know is how come when you do it in internet explorer or netscape navigator... you can open the ftp site and see the contents of the folders but you cannot copy and paste.... meaning upload and download by means of ie or navigator...

strange....

caddnima - so there's not an ftp problem? (can you do get/put from command lime - presumably so if cuteftp working) - just an ftp over IE/netscape. I've got no idea why this shpuld be - but if you've got a workable alternative... (cuteftp)

What version of IE are you using?

I am using the latest one... 6 i think with service pack on it...

i tried to use netscape... i can download... good... but upload cannot...

the reason i am using this approach is because i thought this is the easiest way for people who are not inclined in tech stuff. I don't want for them to learn another ftp program for this use... if i can do it with explorer or netscape so much the better.
