In a MS tech paper about how to isolate FTP users I found, "With isolated access, users are not permitted to navigate out of their home directory. If users need access to dedicated share folders, you can also establish a virtual root."

How do isolated users access that virtual root if they cannot leave their home directory?

I tried putting a shortcut url to the virtual root in the home directory. This asks for the username and password.
Is there a way to bypass the username password dialog box?

Thanks!

under the default ftp site, you mqke virtual folders, with the exact same name as the user logging on, then the user will only be able to see the content of the home folder of that virtual folder.

if the user goes up one level from his root, he will see the root of the default ftp site, so normally you will keep this folder empty.

this way you can make infinite ftp sites on one shared public ip address.
