Hi,

This happens a lot, you have an empty folder and you try to empty it and you get an error message that a ressource is using it! But there is nothing open, there is no program using this file anywhere, as there is nothing in the folder!

How do we go about getting rid of this thing?!

Cheers!

Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, Show all hidden files and folders.

At a minimum desktop.ini will still be there.

Hi,

Thanks for the link, it has a bunch of great tips on that, unfortunately the one I needed has a broken link. I already have the settings so as to see all files, I always do that, along with extensions. So I keep on looking for what is behind this strange thing.

Cheers!

I normally bring up the "Command Prompt" to take care of such matters. Sometimes just closing "Explorer" and re-opening will remove it trom memory.

Here's a useful freeware program to find out what process is the culprit (in most cases it is Exolorer, but not always).

Handle.exe

You will need to run it from a Cmd prompt. You will also need to use the "Find" under "Edit" to find your folder or file in the resultant list.

You will then know which process to end so you can delete the file/folder.

Very often these type of problems go away after a reboot.

Thaks for this link, really cool stuff! Finally, I am not sure exactly how, but, by rebooting I was able to delete the file!

Cheers!
