I clean installed (after a format) W2k and Office 2k and upgraded to SP3.

Every time I open Front Page 2k I get a message .. "preparing to install", and then "insert the Front Page 2000 SR1 disk". Since I don't have this disk I hit cancel and the program opens and runs without any problem.

I have tried to reinstall SP3 but get a message that it already exists.

The entire office suite with the exception of Front Page show SP3 but Front Page shows version 4.0.2.6625

help and idea would be appreciated,

Mike

Have you tried to uninstall/reinstall or repair Front Page from your Office 2K installation disk?

thanks for the reply.

I tried the repair which didn't help.

Haven't tried to reinstall FP but I will.

Haven't uninstalled because I figured that I'd be back where I started but worth a try.

regards,

Mike

well after uninstalling and reinstalling FP I can now open it without getting the "preparing to install" message. It opens right away.

However when I go to Office Updates I now get offered the opportunity to upgrade to SR-1a but if I try to install the update I am told that I don't have the "expected" version. The updates page doesn't offer me SP3.

So it looks like the whole suite with the exception of FP is now SP3 and FP is the original version.

Well I know longer have to go through the clicking and cancelling when I open FP which I thank you for :)

I am not at all anti-MS but this would appear to be one of their screw ups.

thanks

Mike

I am pleased my suggestion helped.

You may find the only way around the problem is uninstall and reinstall the whole Office Suite so that it is all at the same version and then try the updates.

thanks.

I will probably do that in the future but only if/when I have a problem somewhere within the suite.

At the moment all seems to be working well.

regards

Mike
